Brazil’s leading art fair, SP-Arte (7-10 April), is adding a sector dedicated to the country’s leading furniture and lighting designers to its 12th edition. The 20 exhibitors, including São Paulo’s Firma Casa, will show works ranging from the 1920s to the present day on the third floor of the Ciccillo Matarazzo Pavilion, alongside the Open Plan space for large and site-specific installations. Designers on view will include the Modernist Gregori Warchavchik (1896-1972) to today’s darlings, the Campana Brothers, Lina Bo Bardi and Oscar Niemeyer (who also designed the 1954 building that hosts the fair). Fernanda Feitosa, the director of the fair she founded in 2005, says that collectors “appreciate good design as they appreciate good art”.
