Adventures with Van Gogh is a weekly blog by Martin Bailey, The Art Newspaper's long-standing correspondent and expert on the Dutch painter. Published on Fridays, stories range from newsy items about this most intriguing artist, to scholarly pieces based on meticulous investigations and discoveries.
Our long-standing correspondent Martin Bailey writes for us on a wide range of stories, including much acclaimed investigative pieces, but his personal passion is Vincent van Gogh.
He has written a number of books on the artist, most recently Starry Night: Van Gogh at the Asylum (available through Amazon in the UK and US), published on 27 August. He has also curated several exhibitions, and is co-curator of Tate Britain’s eagerly anticipated Van Gogh in Britain show, which opens in March 2019.
I am delighted that he is now going to write a weekly blog for The Art Newspaper over the coming months, which will be published every Friday and, as always with Martin, will break new ground.
His stories will range from newsy or diary items about this most intriguing artist, to scholarly pieces based on his own meticulous investigations and discoveries. I am sure that you will enjoy following his ‘adventures’ with Van Gogh.
Look out for the first blog, exceptionally launched on Monday 27 August alongside his new book.
Martin Bailey is a leading Van Gogh specialist and special correspondent for The Art Newspaper. He has curated exhibitions at the Barbican Art Gallery, Compton Verney/National Gallery of Scotland and Tate Britain.
