Art Central, the fair which has run concurrent to Art Basel in Hong Kong (ABHK) since 2014, has announced that it will move its 2021 edition (22-26 March) from temporary tents along the Central Harbourfront to within the same premises as ABHK, the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).

Both fairs announced the cancellation of their March 2020 editions in February, as the regional and global impact of the Covid-19 pandemic became apparent.

“These are unprecedented times, in which it is particularly important that the art world is collaborating and supporting each other," says an Art Basel spokesperson of the shared premises. "We are therefore delighted that in 2021 Art Central will be exceptionally taking place within the HKCEC alongside Art Basel.”

Art Basel’s Hong Kong organisation is rumoured to also be collaborating this year with the autumn fair Fine Art Asia, also in the HKCEC, which rescheduled its 2020 edition from early October to 27 to 30 November, scaled down to local exhibitors. On this, Art Basel's spokesperson only says: “Especially in this challenging period, Art Basel is looking into several different ways of supporting galleries and is in close contact with its exhibitors to see how best to do so.”
