Rome

The Italian New York-based collector Carlo Bilotti has offered 20 paintings worth E13 million ($17.3 million) by the 20th-century Italian painter Giorgio De Chirico to Rome City Council on three conditions: that the works be housed in the Villa Borghese Orangery, Rome; that the building be re-named the Bilotti Museum; and that it open by March 2006. The council has agreed to all these conditions and is to fund the renovation of the Orangery, scheduled to re-open in January 2006, at a cost of around E1 million ($1.32 million).
