A legend of Mayfair is hanging up his hat this spring—the jewellery expert and Antiques Roadshow contributor Geoffrey Munn is stepping down after more than 45 years at Wartski, the fabled family firm of dealers specialising in works by Carl Fabergé. His retirement coincides with another momentous development at the jewellery company. “The building here in Grafton Street will be demolished and Wartski will move this summer to 60 St James’s Street,” says Munn, managing director. “But the shop front is listed so that will stay complete with the royal cyphers above the door.” Munn will be leaving for an expanded career in television, and plans to write, fundraise for the Samaritans charity and mudlark in the Thames. “Certainly nothing Munndane!” he quips.
