Some progress in restitution of Klimt paintings, but much more needs to be done

Maria Altmann’s ongoing attempt in the US to hold Austria to account for its allegedly unlawful retention of six Klimt paintings that belonged to her family and were then looted by the Nazis has focused international attention on Austria’s often ambivalent attitude towards the matter of what should be done about Nazi-looted art in public collections
