Although she remains an Interim artist, such is the community spirit currently flourishing among the East End’s Galleries that Rebecca Warren is showing her new work down the road in the more intimate interior of Modern Art (until 22 December), which last year also provided a more suitably cosy setting for the Chapman’s photorealist pussy (cat) paintings than the dazzling expanse of White Cube. Warren has been toying with the protean qualities of clay for a while now—the sexily squelchy sculptures of her last Interim show in 2000 got another airing in Charles Saatchi’s “New Labour” exhibition—and, there are more modellings at Modern Art (left, “Madder rose”, 2002). Although, at time of writing, Warren is still ensconced in her studio although there are rumours that she will be showing works in other media apart from clay.
