Art Cologne sets up subsidiary fair in Palma de Mallorca

By following Art Basel's example, organisers hope to rival their prosperity

Art Basel’s edition in Miami Beach every December has been such a runaway success that Art Cologne is trying to emulate it. Next autumn it is organising an offshoot fair in the airport of Palma de Mallorca (19-23 September). “German collectors often have second homes in Mallorca, and there is a strong artistic tradition there; it’s where Miguel Barceló comes from, and where Joan Miró lived,” says Gérard Goodrow, director of Art Cologne. About 60 galleries will take part, the number limited by the available space in Terminal A of the airport.
