Trial Warhol prints may be authenticated in alleged policy adjustment for Authentication Board

The Art Newspaper has learned that the secretive Andy Warhol Art Authentication Board may now accept certain Warhol prints as genuine that it has previously rejected. An expert who worked with Warhol and has ties to members of the board claims unnumbered edition extras and unsigned trial proofs printed in colour variations often different to the final edition, may now be authenticated. The change is significant because it means that owners of prints that have been rejected by the board may have an opportunity to resubmit their works for appraisal. The board would not confirm that any change had been introduced.
