Dr Robertino Wild, director of the German engineering firm Capricorn, has bought Belgian artist Wim Delvoye’s gargantuan Flatbed Trailer (above) which dominated the main square at this year’s Art Basel. The ten-ton 23-metre steel piece, which consists of a cement mixer placed on the back of a lorry, is the largest work ever made by the artist. A spokesman for Dr Wild said that the businessman, who is known to collect British contemporary art, was awaiting an installation permit from Düsseldorf city council to display the work near his company headquarters outside the city. The truck, on sale for E1m ($1.4m) at Art Basel, took Delvoye two years to construct.
