The Disarmory, the peaceniks’ art fair at 201 Mulberry Street, presents 11 artists who have conceptually “disarmed” a work of their choosing from the original Armory Show of 1913. Themed events at the fair include, “Armed and Dangerous” and “The Wartime Ball”, taking place this weekend. The Disarmory even has its own newspaper (as all good art fairs should). Suzanne Treister, one of the artists whose work is on show, has a real live arms-dealing relative, none other than her nonagenarian father. In her own words, “he has to be the only Hebrew arms dealer in the world not to have made a fortune and still living in Finchley,” the leafy but far from posh London suburb.
