Tate Modern was emblazoned with slogans by the climate change group Extinction Rebellion on Friday night, with “Time’s up, act now” and “Tell the truth” projected onto the side of the London museum’s chimney. The event was organised by the Kensington and Chelsea Projection Rebellion group, a subsidiary of Extinction Rebellion, in collaboration with the comic artist and founder of the band Gorillaz, Jamie Hewlett. Earlier this week, members of Extinction Rebellion gathered at Frieze London in a bid to “get those in a position of power to recognise their part in the climate emergency”, an activist said. “The amount of money spent on art is outrageous compared to what is spent on fighting the climate crisis.”
