The Galleries

Andrew Edlin Gallery has appointed Phillip March Jones as its new director, replacing Rebecca Hoffman.

After more than ten years of partnership between Nicole Delmes and Susanne Zander, Galerie Susanne Zander is now doing business as Delmes & Zander.

Josef Ng has joined Pearl Lam Galleries as its managing director for Asia and will be based in Shanghai and Singapore.

Proving that Los Angeles is fast becoming a magnet for out-of-town galleries, the Zurich-based Karma International opened a space in Beverly Hills on 16 January. “Our client base has shifted dramatically and now 40% of our collectors hail from the States,” says the gallery’s co-founder Karolina Dankow.

The São Paulo- and Rio de Janeiro-based Galeria Nara Roesler has just opened an outpost in Manhattan’s Flower District. “We’ve long wanted to establish a base here,” says its artistic director Alexandra Garcia Waldman. The viewing room and office are housed in a late 19th-century building, where reportedly both George Gershwin and Marilyn Monroe lived.

Rod Barton’s new gallery space in Brussels was due to open as we went to press. Its inaugural exhibition features work by the Copenhagen-based artist Luc Fuller (until 27 February).

Artist Moves

It’s been a busy start to the year for Blain Southern, which has added to its roster the Mexican artist Bosco Sodi and the Japanese artist Chiharu Shiota, whose installation The Key in the Hand, on view in the Japanese pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2015, proved popular with visitors. P.P.O.W. and Galerie Lelong now jointly represent Carolee Schneemann. Carroll/Fletcher now represents the Paris-based American artist Evan Roth, after hosting his latest exhibition Voices over the Horizon in spring 2015, while Sprüth Magers now has worldwide representation of the estate of Craig Kauffman. The Dutch photographer and film-maker Dana Lixenberg is now represented by Amsterdam’s GRIMM gallery.
