Arts of Pacific Asia Show: Mid-price treasures for new and younger collectors

Works from the Southeast Asian countries vie with the more traditional Chinese and Japanese selections

The Arts of Pacific Asia Show, at the 69th Regiment Armory, Lexington Avenue at 26th Street, New York (from 23 to 26 March) advertises itself as offering “affordable Asian antiques”, particularly objects in the $500-5,000 price range, aimed at new and younger collectors.

This year, eighty-one dealers will take part, thirty-one of them from Asia, Australia, Europe and the UK, and works on offer include screens, jades, bronzes, photographs, jewellery, in addition to furniture, sculpture and paintings. While no fewer than twenty exhibitors will feature textiles, jade and netsuke are also much in evidence. Contemporary fine art porcelains are another unusual feature, as are nineteenth-century Chinese and Japanese advertising posters.
